MG20 vs MG20 BAPE®: Which Limited Edition Should You Buy?

Quick answer

Choose the MG20 BAPE® if you want a streetwear-inspired limited edition at a lower price and don't need the most immersive acoustic experience. Choose the MG20 Automobili Lamborghini if you prioritize 50mm Beryllium drivers, 7.1 surround sound, and premium materials like magnesium and lambskin leather. Both are limited editions, so availability may be a factor.

Master & Dynamic's MG20 wireless gaming headphones come in several limited-edition collaborations, and two of the most talked-about are the MG20 BAPE® and the MG20 Automobili Lamborghini. Both share the MG20 silhouette, but they differ in price, materials, and acoustic features. This comparison breaks down the supplied facts so you can pick the one that matches your priorities.

We'll look at what each edition offers, where the trade-offs lie, and who each is best for. Whether you're a collector, a gamer, or someone who wants a distinctive pair of headphones, the right choice depends on how you weigh design against performance.

MG20 BAPE®: Streetwear style at a lower price

The MG20 BAPE® is a wireless gaming headphone collaboration with the iconic streetwear brand BAPE®. It shares the MG20 platform but stands out with its distinctive colorway and branding. At a catalog price of USD 174.50 (compared to a catalog comparison price of USD 349.00), it's the more accessible limited edition of the two.

Because the catalog facts for this model are limited to 'Wireless Gaming Headphones,' we can't detail its driver size or surround sound capabilities. If those specifications matter to you, the Lamborghini edition provides more concrete information. The BAPE® edition is best approached as a style-forward choice for fans of the collaboration.

• Limited-edition streetwear design
• Lower catalog price than the Lamborghini edition
• Wireless gaming headphone functionality

MG20 Automobili Lamborghini: performance and premium materials

The MG20 Automobili Lamborghini is a collaboration with the Italian supercar maker. According to the catalog, it features 50mm Beryllium drivers and 7.1 surround sound, which Master & Dynamic describes as their most immersive acoustic experience. It also includes a detachable boom microphone and an internal mic array for clear communication even when the boom mic is detached.

The design uses lightweight magnesium, lambskin leather, and sapphire glass, giving it a sophisticated, flexible build. At USD 249.50 (catalog comparison price USD 499.00), it costs more than the BAPE® edition, but the extra spend goes toward higher-end materials and advanced audio features.

• 50mm Beryllium drivers and 7.1 surround sound
• Detachable boom mic plus internal mic array
• Magnesium, lambskin leather, and sapphire glass construction

Design and brand collaboration: which look suits you?

Both editions are defined by their collaborations. The BAPE® edition leans into streetwear culture, while the Lamborghini edition draws from automotive luxury. Neither is objectively better; it's about which aesthetic resonates with your personal style and where you plan to use them.

If you want a headphone that makes a bold statement in casual settings, the BAPE® may be the better fit. If you prefer a more understated, luxury-oriented look with premium materials, the Lamborghini edition aligns with that preference. Keep in mind that both are limited editions, so color options and availability may vary.

• BAPE® for streetwear fans; Lamborghini for automotive luxury enthusiasts
• Both are limited editions with color options

Price and value: what you pay for

The MG20 BAPE® is priced at USD 174.50, while the MG20 Automobili Lamborghini is USD 249.50. The price gap reflects the Lamborghini's advanced acoustic features and premium materials. If you don't need 7.1 surround sound or a detachable boom mic, the BAPE® offers the MG20 experience at a lower cost.

Consider how you'll use the headphones. For competitive gaming where positional audio matters, the Lamborghini's 7.1 surround sound could be a significant advantage. For casual listening and style, the BAPE® may be sufficient. Both are limited editions, so if you're drawn to one, don't wait too long.

• BAPE®: lower upfront cost
• Lamborghini: higher cost for advanced features and materials

Trade-offs to weigh

• Price vs. features: BAPE® saves you money but lacks the detailed acoustic specs of the Lamborghini edition. Decide if 7.1 surround sound and Beryllium drivers are worth the extra cost.
• Design vs. performance: BAPE® offers streetwear flair; Lamborghini offers luxury materials and advanced audio. Choose based on whether style or specs matter more to you.
• Availability: Both are limited editions and may sell out or have limited color options. If you have a strong preference, buy sooner rather than later.
